James Moss, widely recognized by his stage name J. Moss, is a prominent American gospel musician, composer, producer, and arranger. In the early stages of his career, Moss inked a deal with the local Christian label Aviday Records and released two albums. Although these initial ventures received limited attention, they led him to cross paths with Paul Allen and Walter Kearney, with whom he formed the renowned group PAJAM. Building on his musical journey, Moss toured extensively with The Clark Sisters during the mid-90s. In 1996, he secured a solo recording contract with Island Records alongside his cousin, Karen Clark-Sheard.
